Morning Meeting
This is a time for active group games, sharing, and briefing the campers on the day's activities.
Elective Time
Campers may choose from two activities daily. Activities may include paper-making, Photoshop, costume construction, sculpture, creative writing, dance, or theater games. On some days electives will take place in Prospect Park.
Afternoon Odyssey
This is a time for group process. Campers will engage in an ongoing project over the course of the week that integrates different media into a single exploration. Within The Odyssey, the directors will find ways to help each camper take his or her interests and run with them! This project may culminate in a performance documented with photography or video, or as a sculpture or group "exhibition."
Extended Day (optional)
Working parents and others may choose to have their campers stay at Odyssey Summer Arts later in the afternoon. Campers will get a healthy snack and participate in some relaxing art projects led by the camp directors or other visiting artists. Families may choose extended day for the entire week or for individual days. The charge is $25 per day.
Newsletter
Campers will generate a self produced, handmade newsletter to share with their families at the end of each week. These newsletters will not be ordinary! We will use all of our mixed-media skills to produce a limited edition record of our camp happenings.
Field Outings
Campers will visit unusual Park Slope locations once a week (TBA) as part of their group project. Detailed information on all Field Outings will be available at the start of each camp week. Additional chaperones for these outings are welcome!
